JULY 6: ARTHUR
STUMBLES THE SILK ROAD:
Journalist
Arthur Alpert spent last August retracing the ancient Silk Road from
Xi'an, China westward to the deserts of Xinjiang Province, into sky-high
Kyrgyzstan and finally, the fabled Uzbek towns of Samarkand and Bukhara.
He'll touch on China's Caucasian mummies, buried adobe cities, Islamic bagels,
the geopolitical meaning of the Uighur word for "thanks" and the virtues of
ignorance.
JULY 13: AMERICA'S CHILD: ONE WOMAN'S JOURNEY THROUGH THE RADICAL 60S: Author Susan Sherman will speak about and read from her relevant and hopeful book that offers much to those working on social justice issues today. Bring your questions and memories of those days that so many of us lived through.
JULY 20: YOU NEVER KNOW 'TIL YOU TRY IT
by Rev. Liz McMaster, who says, "Back from the trip of a lifetime that
took more courage than I knew I had, the experience might be worth a peek at.
This is a sermon on stretching ourselves that hopefully may resonate with some
challenges you have in your life."
